Bachmann Campaign Lies About Iowa Poll Numbers
Claims Minnesota Congresswoman is in “statistical dead heat” with frontrunner Ron Paul
In an effort to falsely characterize the Minnesota Congresswoman as a top tier candidate, the Michele Bachmann campaign has resorted to lying about the Iowa primary poll numbers, claiming she is in a “statistical dead heat” with frontrunner Ron Paul when the statistics show the opposite to be true.

Citing a survey of 1250 Iowa Republicans conducted by We Ask America, in which Bachmann received 15% of the vote compared to Ron Paul in first place with 19%, the Bachmann campaign hastily sent out an email to their supporters claiming “We are in a statistical dead heat for the Iowa caucuses and I need your immediate support to push my campaign over the top!”
With the poll’s margin of error at 2.77 percent, Bachmann isn’t even within range of Paul to claim a “dead heat”.

“Those results are out of line with polling averages compiled by Real Clear Politics, which put support for Paul and Romney above 20 percent and Bachmann below 10 percent,” reports the Des Moines Register.
In addition, every other poll conducted in the state illustrates that Bachmann is clearly not a top tier candidate. In the latest Rasmussen poll, she scored a mere 6 per cent.
The New York Times’ Iowa Caucus Projection, which collates a statistical average of all the polls conducted over the last two weeks, gives Bachmann just a 5% chance of winning the primary, compared to Ron Paul and Mitt Romney who are both on 40%.
Bachmann is polling only slightly ahead of Rick Perry and Rick Santorum, both of whom are widely acknowledged to have no chance of performing well in Iowa and indeed nationwide.
Bachmann and Paul sparred during a debate in Iowa last week after Bachmann accused the Congressman of being soft on foreign policy by refusing to back calls to attack Iran.
It’s one thing for Bachmann to point to an encouraging result in a poll in an effort to build momentum, but claiming she is in a “statistical dead heat” with leader Ron Paul when the statistics prove the opposite is just an outright lie.
